Hilarious ad but as soon as I got to where he mentions the PCV is clogged but that he didn’t fix it.....1000% crack pipe, even considering the low price and included parts. Pretty easy to fix and if you don’t you WILL blow out hard to get at oil seals, and it indicates other hard neglect because the PCV is real easy to do. Weird that this guy was amassing parts for a drivetrain swap but couldn’t be bothered to fix the blower motor or the PCV, and getting ALL his parts sounds like a nightmare.
Also who wants a car with a slush box and 114hp that weighs 3100lbs? I love Bricks but you deserve better.

You don’t buy a 240 wagon for its performance...

Hey, that’s my Miata’s job not mine! Nah, I’m just salty looking for a 240 that’s mechanically poor but with a solid interior. I’m convinced the Norse gods will strike me down if I part out a clean car.
But I swear so many sellers are doing that and it makes it a giant pain to sort through some of the worse ads.

Ah that’s fair. I tried looking at Portland Craisglist (since it’s a mecca for volvos), but instead I found 240 wagons for over 10k. This one is at least at a price where I can put some money into it and not feel bad.

I know the seller you’re talking about. He doesn’t get much love in the community and I’ll let you find out. SoCal has clean cars but they will cost you one way or another : My $1900 Turbo has required $400 of parts so far. You can find sedans for $2500.

Yeah I get that 240's are revered in an odd way in the Volvo community, but they don’t need to turn into the VW Bus of Volvos. I can see $5k for a decent one, but getting to $10k is a bit exceptional for something that’s just a normal wagon. In Colorado it seems I can find 240's frequently for under $3k, and our rust isn’t terrible.
